Meyer, Tebow, Richt, Snead, Saban... they have all come and gone. Time to edit some material for tonight's shows. Tune into WATE-TV6 Sports at 6 and 11 for complete coverage from Hoover!
At this point I don't think that there is a compliment that Tim Tebow has not received. No negative words about the Florida Gators two-time national champion/one-time Heisman Trophy winner.
Gators head coach Urban Meyer said that he is savoring every moment with Tebow in this, his senior season.
Alabama football fans have taken over the lobby at the Wynfrey Hotel... I can only imagine the plight of the poor family trying to check into their hotel, that had no idea this was SEC Media Days...
Bama fans yelling "Roll Tide" so loudly that we can hear them while conducting interviews on the second floor...
When Nick Saban walks into the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, Alabama, the circus has officially come to town.
Approximately 15-20 camerapersons chase him around like he's Britney Spears leaving the salon in LA.
Saban, who has been known to have a rather abrasive personality, took time to thank the media for all we do at the end of his session in TV room #2. A nice, an unexpected touch.
Last year the Georgia Bulldogs were the preseason number one team in the nation. This year, expectations not nearly as high, after losing QB Matthew Safford and RB Knowshon Moreno to the NFL.
New Bulldogs QB Joe Cox tells the media that he wants to prove people wrong this season. Georgia DT Jeff Owens is having a blast, bringing his own camera to media day, following reporters and photographers around, with a smile on his face. He's the anti-Saban.
It is just after 8am local time, and hundreds of media from across the country are already looking high and low for Alabama coach Nick Saban.
Alabama and Georgia meet the media in the first session... followed by Ole Miss and Florida. Over/under on the number of times Gators head coach Urban Meyer is asked about Tennessee's Lane Kiffin?
600...
Blogging all day... check in throughout the morning!
Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt have come and gone... tomorrow serious star power... with Alabama and Florida hitting the media rooms... I really want to hear Meyer talk about turning down Notre Dame for the 800th time...
Blog tomorrow from Media Days!
Kentucky head coach Rich Brooks knows that he has a good thing in sophomore Randall Cobb. Today he told me that they have to get the football in his hands, and that he could be one of the SEC's top playmakers this season. Cobb is a former Alcoa quarterback that led the Tornadoes to multiple state titles.
I'm stunned at the confidence of Vanderbilt head coach Bobby Johnson, center Bradley Vierling, and cornerback Myron Lewis. Not necessarily that they are expecting big things in 2009. Everyone in Hoover says that about their respective teams. But for the first time ever, I actually believe that Vanderbilt isn't going to be the SEC's patsy. They might come back down to earth and go 2-6 in the SEC like that have for many of their years in the conference... For the moment... optimism reigns supreme... for the Commodores.
Every year Vanderbilt coach Bobby Johnson has had to come to SEC Media Days and talk about the Commodores long bowl game drought.
Not this time.
In 2008 the Commodores went 7-6, and won the Music City Bowl. It was the first time in more than a quarter century that Vandy had a winning record.
Today Johnson said that he was proud of last years team, but more importantly, he was ready to get 2009 started.
