Next stop: Oklahoma City

Submitted by Mark Nagi on May 29, 2010 - 8:25pm

The Lady Vols softball team, by all accounts, was supposed to be a year away.  With freshmen and sophomores all over the lineup, Tennessee should have been too young and inexperienced to advance to the Women's College World Series.

Lady Vols softball a model of consistency

Submitted by Mark Nagi on May 23, 2010 - 4:54pm

The Tennessee Lady Vols softball team has become one of UT's most consistent winners.

On Sunday they beat Louisville 3-1 in extra innings, to capture the NCAA Regional title, and earn a trip to Michigan for the Super Regionals.

Was there a post-Monica Abbott effect with this program?  Perhaps.  The past two years the Lady Vols lost at home in the NCAA Regionals.  But they are back on track now.

Eric Berry: Prepared for the NFL

Submitted by Mark Nagi on May 8, 2010 - 6:47pm

Recognize this guy? He's now the future of the Kansas City Chiefs franchise.

Eric Berry lived up to all the hype he brought with him to Knoxville.  Son of a former Vol, one of the best high school players in the state of Georgia...

In three years at Tennessee, he played with maturity, and was a class act on and off the field.
